Job seeker killed by steel beam

A WEST Australian man was killed by a falling steel beam as he sought work at a factory in the state's wheatbelt.

Worksafe, the government agency which deals with work-related injuries and deaths in WA, is investigating the 37-year-old's death yesterday.

The man was understood to have been looking for work at the factory, which makes bins for use in agriculture, in his hometown of Moora, 190km north of Perth, Worksafe said.

A rack of steel beams collapsed beside him and he was struck and killed by a piece of falling steel.
