Woman dies in timber mill accident

A 35-year-old woman has died after an industrial accident at a timber mill in Morwell yesterday.

The woman was working at Carter Holt Harvey timber mill at Tramway Road when the accident occurred.

Workplace Investigators said the woman had been clearing a blockage on a machine when the accident occurred just after 4pm yesterday.

The 35-year-old woman, from Yallourn North, died at the scene.

"In this case, timber that has been bundled, weighing about two tonnes, was in the process of being lifted and then has fallen on her," a Workplace Safety spokesman told The Age.

Workplace Safety investigators are still investigating the cause of the accident.
