Man crushed by load of steel

A MAN died early today when he was crushed by a load of steel at a workplace at Hemmant in Brisbane's eastern suburbs.

Police said the man was believed to be aged in his 20s.

"The circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear, however the man was working at a steel processing plant on Anton Road about 1am when it appears he was crushed by a load of steel", a police statement said.

Police said ambulance officers were called but the man was declared dead at the scene.

Workplace Health and Safety officer would investigate, they said.
